Is a video curriculum a complete education?

Some are complete programs with defined scope, assessment, and records. Others are supplements marketed as more. Check whether it has a scope and sequence, whether it grades and reports, and whether it teaches writing, which is the most common gap in screen-based programs.

How much screen time does a video curriculum involve?

Often several hours a day if it is your full program, which is worth deciding on deliberately rather than discovering. Many families use video for one or two subjects, commonly math or a subject the parent would rather not teach, and keep the rest off-screen.

Does video instruction work for younger children?

Less reliably. Younger students generally need more interaction and hands-on work than a screen provides, and attention holds better with a person. Video tends to work best from about fifth grade up, and best of all for students who are self-motivated and want independence.

Do online programs handle recordkeeping for me?

Some produce grades and progress reports, which helps, but almost none handle state compliance. Attendance, instructional hours, required subjects, and filing remain yours. Check your state's requirements and keep your own records regardless of what the platform reports.
