Is math curriculum ever actually religious?

Rarely in content, occasionally in presentation. Math itself has no worldview, so faith-based math programs typically add Scripture in word problems, chapter headers, or illustrations. That means many families comfortably use a faith-based math program, and it also means a secular family can usually find a fully neutral option without giving anything up.

What is the difference between secular and neutral math?

Neutral programs simply contain no religious references, which describes most of the well-known math curricula. Explicitly secular programs are marketed to secular families and may also emphasize evidence-based pedagogy. For math specifically, neutral is usually all a secular family needs.

Are secular math programs as rigorous?

Will a secular math program work with a faith-based curriculum for other subjects?
